I haven't had any problems with IE, I just notice little things which could be improved. Thats why I use Mozilla Firefox

How the hell do you get hacked? I have never had any problems with that kind of thing, I have no firewall or anti-virus etc...

knowing someone's IP doesnt do much at all, since most computer's IPs are public info anyway. (Blocking your IP causes certain apps to not work at all: like IE, but can be useful if you don't want your IP displayed during a filesharing session) In order to "hack" a computer you need to be able to access an application or exploit a certain flaw on the victim's computer. So if you have a firewall, you're ok. And if you don't, you should also be fine if you at least have an antivirus software of sorts and run it regularly.

Opera. It has tabbed browsing, gestures, quick notes all as standard stuff, plus a built in email client. Also user/author mode that shows webpages minus images, or with the raw html around the content

I use Opera. http://www.opera.com/ It has many of the same features that Mozilla has.

                      Some features:

Tabbed-browsing (ctrl-tab/ctrl-shift-tab or 1/2 to switch between windows)

Opening windows in the background (you can quickly open 4-5 windows in the background and continue surfing, for example when google finds 4-5 relavant web pages)

F11- full screen (IE and Mozilla both do this)

Zoom in and out quickly (type 9 or 0)

Forward and back quickly (type z or x and it's cached so it's fast)

Rewind/Fast forward (shift-z or shift-x) goes back to the first page of a domain or guess what the next page is. This is really cool- say you're browsing many pages in a site...shift-z will "rewind" or jump back to the first page you looked at in that domain. If you're done browsing a site and want to go back to what you were doing before, shift-z a few times and you're back. Shift-x will guess the next page....for instance, it will go to the next google page of results or the next thread in this forum. Works with many pages that have a "next" link.

All the buttons/toolbars are complete configurable (a little too much imo but you can basically put anything anywhere...you want 5 back buttons, you got it).

EDIT: Opera can block pop-ups too...I have it set to open pop-ups in the background and i have a separate ad-blocking program.
