Yeah I use ZoneAlarm and I hear it's not that great. I still use it because I have no idea what I should be using instead... a recommendation please?

There are plenty more advanced firewalls out there, but ZoneAlarm is fine for personal use. If you're using XP you could wait for the SP2 release this month. It comes with an updated version of XP's firewall, which is rumoured to be alot better than the original one.

I don't use a firewall full stop, I've only ever had problems caused by idiots using my computer to download porn.mpg.exe

I don't use a personal firewall either. I use a NAT enabled router as a firewall for my entire LAN. I would advise you to use some kind of firewall though, because you don't need to download and open a malicious file to experience problems. For instance, there are a couple of worms out there that use the RPC exploit in Windows NT based versions to infect unpatched systems that don't use firewall protection.

You have to access the firewall and grant continuum.038 or whatever version you have of Subspace access to the internet. It should be quite simple. What type of firewall do you have? If I am familiar with it, perhaps I can walk you through it.
