Lag outs and Disconnect

I am on a cable connection with huge bandwidth, but I lag out and get d/c all the time. The ethernet runs straight from the Motorolla Surfboard modem into a Belkin ethernet router. From there, it goes into two computers in my room. One computer (mine) always lags out. It gets d/c all the time. It has high pings in the thousands. The other computer, farther from ther router, never lags out. Here are some specs on my computer (the laggy one)

Windows XP (with every update known to man)
1.5 GHz p4
256 mb of ram
ethernet card....

My average ping will usually be 60 ms, but I can't even make it through a whole elim or dd any more. I spike everywhere. Here's a screenshot of my processes at any given time. Please help!

well, some of these tasks are legit but I would still close them myself If they were on my computer:


EDIT: I forgot to highlight acrotray.exe, and Unhighlight rundll32.exe

Close all programs you're running in the background, including downloads, WinMX/Kazaa, MSN Messenger. Close all non essential tasks also.
