DirectX problem

I try to install DirectX 9.0c and it does nothing :/

WHen the installation wizard loads, I click next, and it goes straight to "Installation done, and now ready to use". I've checked my DX and it's done nothing.

I've tried both the End User Runtime and the Redist Install.

I'm running XP Pro SP2

I get the same problem when trying to install DX8 too.

SP2 should include DX9.0c. You can check the version with dxdiag. Just type it in the Run box.

If you wish to install earlier DX's, you have to use some DX-uninstaller first.

Sorry I should have elaborated; this checking involved DXDiag and Aida32 (just to make sure). Both report that I have DX5.


EDIT: Nm, I'm a stupid fucker, I was looking at the wrong numbers.

But anyway onto my next problem:

I'm running an Athlon 1.1GHz + GeForce2 MX440 (both of which work according to the Bontago site)

I've tried changing all of the options in the graphics menu, to no avail. It always looks like this:

Ewan, try using the 1.2 Beta of bontago from here

It looks like they've tried to sort out some of the graphics problems. You still need the full install of 1.1 but copy/paste all the files from this zip to your bontago folder.

you've had problems with this and HL2...sounds like something is seriously messed up with your comp.
