Parents got a computer its like a 1.8 256 of ddr 333 running windows xp pro on a 20 gig hd. Start up takes like over 2 mins and it only took like alot less time when they had the p3 750 with 192 of pc100 ram...... any ideas?

Well, you could try defragging your harddrive first of all.

You need to give more information- Where does it seem to freeze? Do you have any anti-spyware programs (Adaware, Spybot), any antivirus programs?

Try booting in safe mode and see what happens. If that's any faster you could try disabling some of the unneeded programs that boot with your XP (Start->All Programs->Startup) and also Start->Run-> type msconfig -> Startup Tab -> remove anything that you are SURE isn't needed.

Also check out BootVis from Microsoft: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664

Well most of the problem is in the loading screen with the little blue bar that runs across the screen like 25 times....

Some computers just take longer to load up. Some components take longer to load up you just got to deal with it. By the way I hate the little blue bar as well make me want to punch it.

Well there is no way it should take 2 minutes for the OS to load.
