If you play the game and it's all jerky and not smooth, you probably have a bad framerate. Here are a few ways to raise your FPS (framerate).
In Continuum main menu: View-> Options-> Graphics -- Change color depth to "8".
In Continuum main menu: View-> Options-> Advanced Options -- Click the box that says "Avoid Page Flipping".
If that doesn't help, you can try:
In Continuum main menu: View-> Options-> Advanced Options -- Click the box that says "Avoid Clipping".
If you don't play in full screen mode, the game will automatically use the color depth of your desktop. You can try right-clicking on your desktop and going to Properties. Then hit Settings and set the Color Quality as low as it can go. It may make your desktop look like crap, but if you really have to play in windowed mode and you have bad FPS, this might be the only way.
I found that these hints fix 99% of framerate problems.
