    Laptops

    hmm well I put this here so i could get a general idea fast.. later tonight ill put up exact details what i need but..
    Price can be around 2000
    What do you guys think of..
    Alienware
    IBM
    Apple
    Hp
    Dell
    Laptops .. I need a good laptop for college.

    I don't know how good particular brands are.

    But it can be useful to ask yourself what is most important to you in a laptop?
    • Weight
    • Screen size / laptop size
    • Battery life
    • Trackball/Touchpad/Nobble-thing-in-the-middle-of-the-keyboard
    • Wi-fi?
    • etc


    You should consider this first, as once you get it you won't easily be able to change the bits.

        Oh well i bought mine some months ago its pretty neat i really like it and it has helped me alot. I had a VAIO before but then i traded with my brother and now i have a Samsung x30. Either one of them are pretty good and you can expect them to satisfy all your needs in terms of what you want for a laptop.

        On a side note:
        they are awfull to play continuum.

          the pc hardware guru's hate DELL, but i can really recommend it.
          Almost everyone ive seen in my enviroment (oracle dbase developers) have DELL so you can't say - in subspace terms - that only 'newbs' have them.

          okay, you pay relative more, but you get quality. so if you dont want to bother with adjusting it and don't care if you could have had 0.00005 mhz more for the same price then this is it.

          i love mine, it works perfect, look nice and is not heavy. (egt the silent processor and ya hear nothing)

            Alienware is expensive. Apple has some new ones coming out that are good. Dell has nonexistant tech support and their computers arent amazing. what are you looking for? playing games or watching movies, etc?

                You spelt Extended as "Exteneded".

                Try Acer (acer.com) they seem to have pretty decent quality/value.
                Alienware is overpriced, you're paying for the name.
                Apple make nice laptops, but I'd never want a Mac.

                Your specs seem pretty high, do you not think that's overkill for a college laptop?

                        The college gave me those specs.
                        I agree alienware is expensive but they do have high-quality hardware. I have heard negatives and positives on alienware..

                        uh Acer is #1 on most websites. I was looking into that, they look very nice.

                        Macs.. Im not going to get one cuz i wont be able to play ss duh.. lol jk The college even recommends not to get a mac.

                        dell.. my friend has a dell laptop says there customer service is really bad. But i heard from other people u can get a fairly cheap dell with everything you need.

                        Hp.. I have an hp desktop. It is awesome.. Any Suggestions?

                            My sister has an Acer laptop and yea, it's decent quality and was reasonably priced.
