Yeah I need to find a good laptop for a little over 300$, possibly refurbished. It has to be able to play diablo 2 decently atleast. If you guys know anything about a broken comp dealer or just a cheap comp place, let me know.

Go with apple, even though my uncle works with Dell, and the one in Calgary, Alberta, Canada kicks serious ass.. Dell just doesn't have as good as service as when they first came otu

I have an hp laptop. All i can say is....

It's crap.

11 months since i bought it, touchpad stopped working, copying and pasting stopped working, power saving stopped working, and print scrn is constantly pressed. Thank god it was before the warranty expired. I sent it in for repairs. It came back and said no problems were found.... :mellow: sent it in again, came back a month later, touchpad still doesn't work within the first 5 minutes of startup... Gonna try to get it repaired again.

and what do you need 1gb of memory for? -_-
is $2000 even enough for a laptop with pretty high specs like urs?

Good point Anida, basically what the fuck is IceStorm going to do with the laptop? Write essays? Play games? Program?

Thing about HP and Dell is they probably use a lot of custom parts, so if you need a spare part, you're under the company's mercy. Also, just because HP do good printers, doesn't mean they do good computers.

I've heard the the dell ones have a habit of corrupt hard drives with just the slightest little knock.. and taking it to college all the time means it's going to get knocked about a bit.

Either way i've been carting my Vaio to and from college with me for 15 months now and it still works perfectly, despite falling off the desk twice <_< and there's no problem with the touchpad.

Those specs were made by the college, not me.
Yes.. Programming and other stuff. Basicly they want us to bring the laptop to every class. Those specs are high which is why I came and asked for assistance from you guys in what I should get. Everything is going in circles in this thread. Hp is good wait no its bad

btw Im not getting a MAC the schools recommends not to considering compatibility issues

Now what brand, model etc.. Anything do you think i should get? Can you give me a link if you know exactly what is perfect?

my problem is judging computers.. I have a hp I think its great. But I cant judge how good it is to other computers because I lack judgment.
I heard IBM is a good laptop.. is this tru? I hear they have good protection.

I will most likely be using a laptop for.. the fallowing not including what i do in college,..
Graphics, Programming, a couple games. Im not one to go all out n' play tons of games.. I just play counter strike etc. When I have the time..

Is that the starting price? In that case, it started at a dollar, its got a cracked screen but easily fixable.

i have a IBM r40
it is good and I got it from www.nofost.de (well that is a german side)
notebook for students means students get IBM notebooks cheaper
perhaps u find sth. like that where u live too

the notebook is now one and a half years old and I use m$ and debian.

but be aware of teh fact th4t ibm is 3vil so...
