Photoshop help

basically, I go to File -> New -> A4 sheet in Photoshop and want to paste an image on it. The image on the screen is of perfect fit to go on the A4 page. However, when I copy it to the A4 page for some reason it goes really really small



Any ideas?

A4 is only the size that will be printed out. That size is 210 x 297mm.

So it's probably easier to start with your image first...

Open up your original picture.
Image -> Image Size -> Document Size
Turn off 'Constrain proportions'
Set the Width/Height to 210mm/297mm
Adjust the Resolution depending on how much quality you want to retain/include.

oh, sorry. I am actually trying to make a poster (for media studies) with the picture on. I don't want to print that pic A4, but just add it to the A4 page at a decent size

then press CTRL+T

then resize it to fit

but it's not the best thing to do but it'll get what you want done

yeah, this makes it all pixelated. i don't see why it does this, i could print the picture out on A4 paper without doing that. besides, the picture is the right size on the screen, why wouldn't i be able to just copy it across?

Try right clicking on your 'big' image and copy it.
Then paste it in a new file and open up another A4 and drag it over? :fear:

Btw, anyone know how to do transparent backgrounds? I'm having trouble on that... using Photoshop Element 2.0. -_-

i fixed it by printing the image out, scanning back in then opening it with Photoshop. it seems to have fixed the problem.



edit: how do i change th background colour to black?

That really really depends.

Try filling in the background layer with just black and see if that gives you what you want.
