OK, so I recently installed an nVideo MX4000 twin-view (aka dual head) graphics card that lets me use two monitors, and put it in "span" mode, where the desktop just stretches accross. Each monitor was set at 1800x1440 (total combined of 3600x1440) resolution, but continuum would only go up to 1024x768x8 before breaking off into weird, stretchy resolutions, like 3200x768. Obviously, TW isn't going to like this since the max resolution is 1280x1024. Furthermore, 1280x1024 wasn't even offered, so I was forced to suffer at 1024x768. Teh sad.
Anyways, the solution to fixing this is by going to the menu in the continuum startup screen and view->advanced options. Make sure "Force Default Resolutions" (at the bottom) is checked, and your "standard" resolutions (1280x1024, 1600x1200, etc) will appear.
Just wanted to put this in the forums, searchable by dual head & twin view resolution. Big props to Tarn for helping, and Ewan's reply at the bottom of http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?t=16836&
