  • Burning .bin

    Hi,

I want to burn a .bin file on a cd, but I'm not sure how to do it.
I have the latest Nero version, but I really don't have a clue how to do it.
    Someone?

    Thx!
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal...

There's an option "burn image" in Nero. Try that. It might need a .cue-file though, but I'm not sure. Alcohol 120% it's much better for burning or creating images by the way.

As Mulkero said, you need .cue file to burn that.

Yeah you will need the cue file, though you can emulate the .bin file onto a virtual CD drive using software such as DAEMON Tools. You don't need the .cue for this.

Well you definately don't NEED a .cue file to burn it.

I believe Nero will burn .bin files directly without a .cue,

Also, if you want, you could emulate it with D-Tools like Mr. Peanuts suggested, and then "copy" the emulated drive to a real cd-r through Nero.

Finally, I found a freeware program that is supposed to be able to generate .cue files from a .bin - Be warned that I've never tried it though:

I can burn .bins with Alcohol 120% without a .cue-file. Cue-file is just a simple file that points out where the actual image is.. I'm not sure why they still use it.

I thought if Cundor knew nothing about this I should tell him what the program would most probably tell him.

Well cue file is still needed for SOME types of CD images, but not many. For example, I download some TurboCD games, and they come in a bin/mp3 format that needs the .cue file to reference all of the mp3 files as well when you burn the disc.

At least Nero needs cue to point out what to burn.

Well I have got a bin of disc 3 of the game Painkiller and I'm afraid Nero won't burn it without a cue file present.

You can actually make your own in notepad. Luckily I did, its pretty easy if you know whats in the other 2 .cue files.

                      Code:
                      FILE "DEV-PK1.BIN" BINARY
                        TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
                          INDEX 01 00:00:00
