I was considering buying some new memory (512mb) how can I find out which type I require? Sorry for the recent spurt of questions but i'm not the brightest anyway let alone with PCs

Dim, what processor are you running? You want to match the FSB of your processor with the memory speed. (Don't take me word for word, it isn't quite that black and white to figure out, but that's a good start.)
You do not want to bottleneck your system, and to avoid that you want memory that is running AT LEAST as fast as your processor FSB.TWLB Champion Season 1 (Light)
