  • Can't boot up from SATA drive (J:) unless theres a bootable CD!

    Hey guys,

I have two harddrives - one ATA (80 gig) set to C:\ and one SATA (200 gig) set to J:\. My fresh install is on the j:\ drive but now I'm getting a "boot disk failure insert boot disk and hit enter" message whenever I restart.

I can get into the new install of windows perfectly if I have a bootable cd in the dvd drive, and later just let it run without booting up from the cd, then I can select windows xp home and everything will boot up fine.

What can I do to boot from J:\ or at least get by the boot disk failure? I tried setting the boot priorities in the bios but it didn't work - I still get the "boot disk failure" message unless I have a CD in the tray and go from there... please help!

ok nvm fixed the problem i'm such an idiot all I had to do was delete the dual boot... but I decided to take out the ATA drive and reinstall windows so the SATA drive can be the new C: drive. horray!
