  • Network help please

Dear friends, the situation is dire!! I recently purchased a new computer. I have DSL.. Let me try to explain what I'm doing here.....

The DSL comes from the wall and plugs into a cordless network adapter thing. A cord then goes from that adapter into Computer A. Computer A has "the internet" on it. Computer B is in the basement. Plugged into the back of it is a "USB stick" which is basically some kind of wireless thingy that is supposed to be able to connect to the adapter. I "set up" the network with the help of windows and Computer B also has "the internet" on it.

So two computers. Both have the internet working. With me so far...

I want the two computers to be networked together so I can move files from one to the other by clicking "My Network Places" or whatever here in windows. This is were the problem comes in!

Computer B: When I click My Network Places it shows me two folders, on that is Computer B's shared folder and one that is Computer A's shared folder. I can take files from Comp A onto Comp B. Good. This is what I want..

Computer A: When I click My Network Places the only folder I see is Computer A's shared folder which if I put stuff into it I can download it onto Comp B.

Why isn't it letting me download from Comp B to Comp A? Thats the only thing that isn't working. I have this shared folder.. It says it is set up to allow file transfers.....

This would change the whole start menu and desktop as well. To just add the 'My Computer' icon:

Right click on desktop -> Properties -> Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Check 'My Computer' under 'Desktop icons' -> OK -> OK
