Burning DVDs

Okay, I know the viewers are probably thinking, just use google to search for an AVI to VOB converter, but I've already done that. I've tried DVDshrink, VirtualDub, Ashampoo Movie Shrink&Burn, NeroVision Express, and WinAVI.

The software I use to burn is Nero Express (yes, I know it's lame). I just need a guide that someone knows to work very well that will tell me exactly what to do to encode/burn the AVI onto a DVD so that I can watch it on a regular DVD player. The only formats that NE will let me burn onto DVDs are .vob, .ifo, and .bup.

Please help, I've trialed an errored too many times.

don't you have to convert to mpeg-4 or whatever th dvd format is if you want to watch oin a normal player?

or, buy a cheap divx dvd player

Maybe you don't have the correct codecs, or perhaps an outdated version of Nero?

I can burn any video file to a DVD absolutely fine, for play on regular DVD players.

I have a DVD burner.
I have a Sony DVD player.
I have 97 DVD-RWs.

outdated version? well, it's Nero express 6 and it came with my computer which I bought in July of last year. in order to burn DVD-Video it now says I need to buy a DVD-Video plug-in or something. Blah, what a bother.

Buy a DVD player which can play DivX movies aswell.

I got a cheap one during boxing week sales... it can also play XviD.

I had this japanese program (it had an english option) that could do everything and a half, pretty sure it could do that too. I'll get back to you on the name of it, I'm in class right now, not on my laptop.

Try Super DVD Creator it converts DVD/VCD/SVCD/MPEG

gack, well i thought I had tried it until I remembered that it wouldn't even execute on my computer. I would double click and the error report sending dialog would come up. I tried reinstalling too.

I gave it another try today though, and it was a compatibility issue. I changed it to run in Windows 2000 compatibility and it works now. Maybe it was my WindowBlinds, I'm not sure.

My file is converting now. I hope the watermark isn't too big =/
