Anyone got some info on how I can manage to do so? I've tried using a boot disc but it still doesn't work. But I mean if I have the mod chip, there shouldn't be any problems running backup copies.

My Ps2 is NTSC, but I seriously don't have a specific type name for you guys concerning the mod chip. I did some extra research yesterday and found out about Breaker Pro, and CD and slide piece combination that allows the PS2 to play backup PS1 games. The product costs about 20$ USD. But I swear that the mod chip should cover the PS1. However, if anyone can confirm that Breaker Pro would actually "for sure" allow me to play PS1 games for a 20 dollar investment, I'm all for it.
If by type, you are asking whether my mod is swap or direct boot, it is direct boot because I don't need to swap anything.♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫

Well you definately don't want a swap disc...
Your modchip should probably play PS1 games unless it is
a) installed wrong (possible; modchips have many wires and 1 badly installed wire will fuck it up)
b) very old (unlikely)
c) cheap knockoff (possible)
On my modchip, to boot PS1 games, I have to have the PS2 in standby mode, then press and hold the power button until the blue light comes on (about 1-2 seconds). You could try that...
You CAN play PS2 copies, right?sdg
