  • New Video Card...but Low FPS

I just installed an ATI Radeon 9250 video card. right away i noticed a distinct change in 3D games such as CS. I was used to averaging 70 fps with my onboard video card, now i get a steady 100 fps. however, it seemed to have done the exact opposite in subspace. i used to get 400 fps with my onboard video card, now i get a ridiculously low 40-60 fps. this doesn't make sense. does anyone know what could be the problem? i already installed the drivers necessary and i turned vsync off.

      Try the following:

      1. Make sure your DirectX is up to date, since CTM uses DirectDraw.

      2. Make sure you're have the latest version of the ATI radeon/catalyst drivers.

      3. Check to see if the "software emulation" setting got accidently chosen in the "advanced settings" box. If it did, then just uncheck it.

Sorry to bump something so old, but it could run at what your monitor is set at. My framerate is at 60, regardless of what I do. (I have a Geforce 6800XT, perfectly capable of handling SS ).

in continuum View->advanced options check disable clipping, no framerate limitand avoid page flipping, should double your fps

          and/or not buy ATI

yet i have a geforcemx4000 128mb and my fps in ss is 290...
