  • Controlling my GFX card fan speed

Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to force the fan speed on my graphics card to 100%? It overheats even when playing shitty games like Half-Life 1 so it's probably a bit faulty, but I don't want to rule out just simple overheating.

It's an MSI NVIDIA GeForce FX5600. I know the omega ATI drivers have an option for fan speed, but the only extra thing in the NVIDIA ones is the option to increase the clock and bus speeds which is hardly what I want to do if it's overheating. I've now gone back to the proper NVIDIA drivers rather than the omega ones cause they seemed pretty shitty.

    Hey mate,

I did some searching for you found this hope it helps see below:

The newer cards (on ATI I think from 9800XT series and up; nVidia 6800 series) the cards have dynamic fan speed control, so the Fans actually do throttle. You can check this by looking at the connector on your fan of your video card. If it has three wires (Black, Red, and White) pluged into the Video Gard PWB it has fan speed control. If it is only a two wire (Black and Red), it doesn't. I didn't think a 5200 series card from nVidia had fan speed control, but I could be wrong. Check it out.
