  • iTunes experts - help me out!

I just recently got a lot of music from a co-worker. Some of the mp3's are unlocked, but some are "unauthorized" and requires him to authorize them to be played on my computer. Is the only way to find out whether a song is "unauthorized" is to double click and play it?

How can I find all the "unauthorized" songs apart from the rest of my music? I want to just delete them from my library.

    Thanks!

iTunes Store files should be m4p.

    m4a is mp4 audio.
    m4v is mp4 video
    m4p is mp4 protected.

    something like that

Right click -> Get Info on the song; if they bought the song from the iTunes store, there will be information in the right hand column under the Summary tab about the account that was used to purchase it. That doesn't solve your having to examine each song by hand, but at least you don't have to try to play each one.

if you have the latest version of iTunes, there should be an option on your left hand toolbar to display all purchased songs. Unless your friend will give you their account pw to 'unlock them' (i think you can do it on up to 5 computers per account), you can delete them....but you should be able to view them all in one place without hunting around.

Question: iTunes doesn't bill you for requesting album artwork does it?

although, now that i think about it...that may or may not display ALL purchased items--it might be only items purchased on the account that you are currently signed in as.

edit: peanuts, album artwork is free

No, but you have to have an Itunes store account (credit card). Fuck them. Try this instead...

Yeah, I've never bought any songs from iTunes, so that tab doesn't show up. Geek's "m4p" extension method is working so far it seems...
