    a virus

    i got a sort of virus on my laptop, its just a standard xp home edition, but i can't seem to find any anti-spyware out there for free. most just offer free scans. it says the system detected virus activies, its been saying that for a while but i just kept ignoring it.

    summing it up, anyone know where i can get a free anti-virus or anti-spyware prog.

    I had a free anti-spyware program called spybot - search & destroy some months ago. I think you can find it on this site http://www.spybot.info/

    don't remember if it was good though =/

      Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft's Adaware are by general consensus the best free adware/spyware removers around.

      Many of the ones that ask you to pay are actually adware in themselves.

                  AVG is a decent free virusscanner. I have never had a virus myself (And I use multiple scanners , but I think it beats those silly online scanners.

                  For anti spyware I stick to Ad-Aware and spybot S&D
