Game Console + Comp Monitor

I was wondering if it was possible for a game console ... one of the newer ones to be able to be somehow connected to a computer monitor or laptop instead of a TV to output the display.

I don't have a TV, but I do have a spare computer monitor as well as a newer laptop.
