I'll try and make this as simple as possible...

As you know having shortcuts on your desk top saves a lot of time when opening programs for use when working at your computer and you can also have this feature for your favorite websites as well. This quick tip shows you the steps to place a website shortcut easily with a few simple mouse strokes.

This method of using favorites is even better if the website uses a favicon to highlight the address bar when you visit and you get a unique feature on your desktop that is easy to see.

Placing a website shortcut on your desktop

You can place frequently visited websites on your desktop by clicking the icon next to the websites url in the address bar, holding down mouse button and dragging the icon to the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

This will cause the open window to minimise and show the desktop.

While still holding down the mouse button, drag the icon to wherever you want to place it on your desktop and release the mouse button.

Your favorite website is now a desktop shortcut.
