How do you get your website listed on Google with the description? As well, how do you make it get listed on top whenever someone types your name specifically? Do you have to pay, if so how much?

How do you get your website listed on Google with the description? As well, how do you make it get listed on top whenever someone types your name specifically? Do you have to pay, if so how much?

Google's website has a way to get listed, if I'm not mistaken.

The skill of making your site appear higher in the results is known as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). You can google/wiki it and read about it to learn how or pay someone to help you. Just be careful as certain SEO practices are not sanctioned by Google and can get your domain essentially blacklisted.

Correction: I think Google can find your website without you needing to register, but you CAN go to this page (http://www.google.com/local/add/lookup?hl=en-US&gl=US) to get a business listed that can also be found on Google maps.

Some websites I have written have shown up on Google, and I never did anything to get them there. It might take some time before it appears though if it's a new site.
