  • Laptop processor fast at 100%

I got this laptop which is totally reformatted and has almost no programs on it. 1.6mhz, 512mb ram.

    no spyware, no virusses.

It runs normall. But as soon as i start a program, newsleacher in this case, the processor runs to 88% to 100%. Which will result in overheating and an automatic shutdown.

What could be the problem? Malfunction with the fan?
    Thanks.

A lot of laptops (especially some Dells) can collect dust quite badly over time, blocking the airflow and causing them to overheat. Search google for your Laptop model and "overheat" and you'll likely find people with similar problems and a solution. It's normally simply taking it apart, taking out a particular bit which gets caked in dust, cleaning it and putting it back together again.

NewsLeecher is such a CPU hog, I'd use SABnzbd if I were you or downgrade to NewsLeecher 1.0 (which was the best version ever in my opinion).

It could be a bit of both.
The model does have fan problems.

And, when newsleecher isn't downloading, the system is iddle at 1% ~5 % cpu. So the current assumption is it's mainly when downloading.

        Thanks.

..I did that for possible future reference..

It seems like whenever I'm downloading the laptop's cpu goes up a-lot. Now I'm using SABnzbd (thanks btw) and instead of going 100%, it does 60% to 75%. Still too much so I'll try cleaning.
