Middle mouse button wont open new tabs

I just got a wireless mouse, a Logitech MX700. Before on my old mouse I could open new tabs and close them by clicking with the scroll wheel button. Now I cant do this. I have tried configuring the button and it works for every configuration except "middle click" and "click/select." I even tried making the left mouse button unassigned and the scroll wheel button click/select and it still wont work.
