The only thing that i find totally worthless with vista is that is sucks up so much memory. And I've had some trouble with drivers. Other then that, just like Ewan says, it's a lot more stable then XP was when it first came out. Vista with SP1 runs like a charm!

Vista tries to use as much of your memory as it can to preload processes, and other background stuff at all times. This is true. However, this memory isn't reserved to Vista. As soon as another program needs the memory, Vista will let it go. In other words, Vista is just using the idle memory that nothing else is using.
This is a pretty genius feature imo.Da1andonly> man this youghurt only made me angry

personally, i like 98 better because I could actually figure out how to change settings. Like you've said, people don't liek the newer systems most of the time because they don't know how to work it. Why they needed to change the way you go about custumizing anything from OS to OS is beyond me. Once i figured out you couldn't run msconfig to do what i want anymore, i kinda got pissed off at microsoft. then i learned how to fix it another way and i went on with my life. I just don't want to have to learn new ways of doing old things, each time I buy a new computer. Especially when they weren't easy to learn in the first place..fffffffff_____

At 1st Vista bothered me in that it would not acknowledge my older HP printer, but I am using a different HP driver for a newer printer and it worked on my old HP...actually works a bit better.
I am pissed that there are no drivers to allow my Microtek Scanner to be used. I also was annoyed specifically about the initial problems encountered to allow for the use of creative sound cards. This was solved by networking my XP Pro system on my laptop.
Vista has it's ups and downs, but it really has not blown me away after the 1 1/4 yrs running Vista. I also am not annoyed anymore with it after working around the problems I encountered.
I do like Vista's networking. Who knows...perhaps they will have the bugs worked out of Vista in another year or two prior to the next O.S. that will be a headache.
I can only say that I still hate the lack of support for most legacy add-on hardware and its drivers.May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Vista isn't actually a bad OS at all. Especially if you agree with the hypothesis that WinXP was good.
Vista is designed more modularly, so if one part of the OS crashes is should in theory keep running and you might not even notice there was a problem. Theoretically there should be less BSOD. It's also much more secure.
There were a number of problems that made Vista appear to be worse than it is. Obviously, it is in some ways "an unfinished product" but in the whole electronics and software industry everything is these days.
Hardware and software manufacturers produce stuff that doesn't work properly inspite of MS having made Vista specs available to them way in advance.
People try to Vista on an ancient machine.
People have 10 years worth of software on their desks, bring home their new Vista computer, and try to install it all and don't bother patching and expect it to work. If you ask me the fucked up thing is how often it DOES actually work.Spider

That's true Spider. It's two different OS, and so many expects it to be so similar that they hardly need to do anything when getting Vista.Da1andonly> man this youghurt only made me angry

Many in the commercial industry also require the use of flatbed scanners of which today they still do not have these compatible. AutoDesk had similar complaint due to the use of Plotters for AutoCAD. HP's response was...no support for old plotters (1 year old) and you need to purchase a new plotter $$$$$
To the home consumer Vista will be less of a nightmare, but for the indsutry and professional use that utilizes specific hardware and software, it has been a let down.May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

vista is overall good and looks ok too but there are annoying things about it like the network settings although pv6 is good it can cause problems randomly some times with wireless networks, like the other day my n wireless stopped working on my laptop for no reason although on my xp laptop it was working fine as with my desktop but overall good features and security is better i guess.Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. it's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.:fear:
