Yea, as roxxkatt said, you probably need specific motherboard drivers to make the extra feature (front audio connectors) work with your sound card.

all motherboard drivers for the GeForce 7050M-M Board have been installed via the CD that came with it. That is not the problem, nor is the cable connection, nor is the mixer controls, so i guess i have an unsolvable problem, again. There is no reason why it shouldnt work, and it simply doesnt work.

yes the headphones work, when i plug them in the back they work, not in the front though. dont you think i would know if my headphones work.

the motherboards audio software detects when i plug something in the back but cant detect the front at all, even though the cable is connected. and the mother board software has controls for the front, so yes its designed to work with a front panel. the front USB works, the front audio jacks do not. i didnt build the computer, professional computer builders did, and i looked inside and all the cables are connected. its a MYSTERIOUS UNSOLVABLE PROBLEM that im so used to.

dead boards, or at least dead parts of boards, happen all the time. replace it or just use the damn back ports.

are you currently using the rear jacks? it might not be able to output to both at the same time.

for whatever reason, i had 2 computers with identical sound cards, but one would let me put 3 sets of speakers into the normal, rear, and sub jacks simulaineously, while the other would only play from one at a time.

do you get feedback in your headpones ?

is the mobo labeled where you can verify that it's plugged in correctly? They also could've forgotten to remove a jump or it could be shorted.

no they are unpluged out of the back and put in the front and dont work. since the front the USB works, that means that the cable isnt accidentally plugged into the wrong front-port, otherwise presumable both wouldnt work. so theres nothing i can do, i dont see how the cable is not connecting, what are the chances of a cable being defective, one in a billion? The board is detecting when something is plugged in the back, but not the front. i think its not connected. computers you order online always have to come with one defect.

just doing a coulpe of searches it seems a lot of people have this problem with Realtek, you don't have that do you?

sorry most of my mobo experience is with 15 yr old comps, i assumed there'd be a seperate wire for just the front jack, independent of the usb.

it seems a lot of times people with this problem have to remove a jumper that's been put on to disable the front audio from the manufacturer. i know you said the software allows for it, but you might also have to configure the board if the people who set it up for you forgot. not saying they did, but it seems to be a common occurance from the forums i looked at. and if it was disable in the software, it might very well be disabled on the mobo as well
