  • Connection to server lost

I just switched form dailup to cable modem and now I am unable to get into any servers(specifically trenchwars)
When I try to connect to it, it goes into the flying stars at you waiting thing, then a little box comes up and says connection to server lost.
What can I do to get it to work?

And you can delete andrewabc user as I will not be using it.

Does the computer have a firewall or proxy? What is the ping to ehh trenchwars.org?

My ping should be ok, as for firewalls my firewall program was shutdown(although something of it may start up when computer starts)
But before(when i had highspeed) I was able to play with the firewalls up.

My computer is connected through a router.

If you are using a router, it most likely has a firewall. Having a software firewall and a hardware one tend to interfere. I'd go with the hardware one on its own.

While I doubt it's an issue make sure ports are being forwarded.

Check your router's manual. It will explain to you how to get into it's settings. Once you have found them, check if the firewall settings, and like I said before turn off your software firewall.

Ok I think all my software firewalls are off, but as for a manual for my router I do not know if I can find it.
              Any other way?
I really want to play trenchwars

Arc basically hit the nail on the head. Unless you can configure your software/hardware firewall to allow the routing connection for Trench, then it wont let you in. Another option (already mentioned) is connect through a proxy server, but I believe you'd have to talk to your cable company about that.

                PS- Hi Arc!

If you can't find your manual you can always try the manufacture's site for information on configuring it.

now it says i have to log into some webpage and then do a bunch of crap..any simpler way of putting it?
