  • My POS computer

im back for more information lol.

I was playing SS monday, and my computer froze, so i turned it off, and tried to restart it, and it was ON, but wasnt loading, and it was beeping at me. I talked to someone and he told me the beeps were a code, and to write the sequence of the beeps down, and call tech support about the problem. So i went home and tried to turn my computer on and it wouldnt even turn on. Im not a retard, it was plugged in, but it just wouldnt turn on. Any information you could give me on this would be usefull. Im going to have it checked out by someone, id just like to know what happened if possible, cause that may not be for a while.

The beeping was probably your Ram not being detected by your Mother board or your motherboard is fried which would be one of the reasons why it isn't booting. I would just get someone to look at it like you said, can't really give you much help like this.

Kolar is most probably right... one of those reasons or you something to do with the pc's voltage settings. Good luck.

Actually, a lot of motherboards use beep codes. Different numbers of beeps for things like, No Vid Card, No ram, Processor failure, IDE failure, etc. All that important stuff that you really need to run a computer.

If the one who's looking at it right now doesn't get it fixed, you could try resetting the CMOS. This is done by simply turning it off, unplugging it, and pulling out the little battery that's somewhere on your moherboard, then putting it back in. It's the type you find in watches and such, you should be able to find it easily. This will, however, reset your system clock, so you'll have to go into your BIOS and set that again. Everybody says the BIOS is scary, but every kind of BIOS I've seen has been easy to figure out (Except of course the one I have, which is overly complicated), just enter it by pressing DEL (F2 on PhoenixBIOS) when the computer starts, during the RAM-test or around, then you should be able to find the clock settings, set that, and the date, and press F10 (or any other keys for Save&Exit your BIOS may have) and let it reboot.

If it still doesn't work, kick it, hard.

Then check if the RAM is inserted properly. Popped out once on me.

Still not? Then borrow some of your friends' RAM and try if it works with that.

As a last alternative you might want to consider using a flamethrower.

Can't it be the fuse in the computer? If, you should unplug the electricitycable (or what it's called) from the combuter. I mean the big gray or black one. You should at least wait 40sec before you put the the cable in again.
This might be the problem that makes the comp not start.

Sure you have payed you electricitybill? lol

If your computer freezes, you'd better place it in a warmer room...
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal...

It can't be the PSU or power cable if the computer beeps.

Okay white, know you're new so it's ok this time, but in general if a thread is over 20 days old it means it's not worth bringing back unless you have something earth shattering to say.

well then it should be removed after that time, or at least not shown. I have quite default settings, and it still shows'em so apparently the owner thinks differently than you.

The owner really doesn't have too much say, either way. He'd bump it if it was still an issue.
