crappy network

Hey nice tech ppl..

I wonder whats wrong with my network. I got a desktop who connects to the internet and from it I got a hub that connects to my laptop.. I'm having tons of problems with this network, I cant transfer files over it yet everything is shared, for some reason the internet works over the network but I haveto run the Install local network Guide every darn time I restart the laptop which pisses me off..
