as you might suspect by now, im either upgrading or building a comp, and im upgrading, i want to know what ram is best, as in speed and whether DDR SDRAMl, RDRAM, SDRAM, which one of those or others is best thanks

Right now DDR SDRAM PC32000 with CAS 2 latency is about the fastest type of RAM you can get, especially while operating in dual-channel mode. Note there are faster versions than PC3200 developped by several diffrent companies, but those aren't official JEDEC standards.
RDRAM was meant to be used by Intel P4 CPU's exclusively, but because of the extremely high cost and the fact that it was quickly overshadowed by DDR SDRAM it became a very expensive flop for both Rambus and Intel.
Intel, like AMD, now uses DDR SDRAM.
