?go Base with Elim voting?

Now that ?go base has three solid styles of play; Timed, Point Race, and Time Race, and everyone wants a little mix of each now and then, I was thinking why not have a voting system before each match? Not only could we vote between the three styles of play, we could also vote on how long, or how many points. Of course there would be minimum and maximum times and points just like elim, but it'd give everyone a chance to play what they'd like.

Perhaps even with the voting, we could make voting on caps a regular thing.

Yes, I do understand that these kinds of things take programing and time, but it's a suggestion and it'd be great to see basing have even MORE of a democratic type feel to it.

Cons: Basing is different from javs and warbirds because it doesn't yet have an elim or baseelim for that matter, and by having a voting system before each match, it might turn it into just another elim or baseelim.

The best would be voted games like Elim has, I agree. I don't mind any of the 3 game formats, but I would prefer to be able to play each of them, not just whatever format is on the bot that the staff decides to throw in the arena.

Leave the cap assigning to the person that starts the bot. Voting for caps would likely lead to people that don't want cap getting it, then leaving or being afk or something.

I am sure that if all 3 modules can be put on one bot, it would be very easy to create a voting system. Something like "Vote 1-Regular, 2-Point Race, 3-Time Race" would be good.

not that i care, do whatever you want to ?go base, just sayin' games already are very long to set up.

I talked to Mythrandir about this today. He said that in a couple weeks, they should make it so one bot is present in ?go base. It will have the options to play any of the three types of games.

More than likely, the host starting the game will ask which type of game wants to be played. If it's relativly even, the host can pick. Personally, I always say Fit of Rage> caps? instead of just assigning captains. I don't see a problem with the system we have now, really, as long as all three options are availible.

Is it possible for the one bot that is present to be a normal matchbot and not matchbotR, so that people that are getting specced for slow ploss will also be able to play with the new system.

This is better hten voting for it. Its gonna be like elims were when they were all together, always playing 1 type over and over even tho a few guys want something different. Atleast make it like elim is and have a random so it isnt the same type over and over like it will end up being. Personaly i dont know what this flag timer stuff or whatever it is called is, but i did see it played a lil bit b4 i left. Why do we keep trying out new systems? i thought it was between points race and timed games (30 mins). Now we'll have another poll on this one :x yet another delay.

The difference between the basing formats isn't as great as the difference between javs and wbs

The problem that if you do a voting on the 3 styles already you might strengthen the prejudice that the mayority might have, based on the ignorance of not played one system enough to judge it.
And I think the purpose of difference systems were to pick one that is best (with least flaws and room for abuse). And not just the one that is currently most popular.
If you don't force people to try out new formats the majority will probably still vote on the good old timed basing. Simpy because they think it's good enough and it's all they ever knew. Still it doesn't mean the other formats will be less fun, and have less room for abuse.
The new formats might have to be tuned, and people maybe don't want to play a format that isn't finished yet because they don't care about innovation, they are just here to play.

I think we should do it like this until it's chosen which format will be used in TWL. Then, use that one.

And please, remove slow ploss forever.
