A little etiquette in ?go base

I'm interested in some of the things that might come from that other thread but in the meantime I'd like to ask for some civility in go base. It's bothered me for a while but it doesn't happen all the time so I never posted about it. But basing is a team activity (as opposed to elim) and crapping on others is not cool.

Some "rules" we know about:

• Be happy with the ship you're put in (you can ask to be changed but don't whine if it doesn't happen)
• Don't leave/spec in the middle of a game without asking for a sub
• Don't ask for cap if you don't know how
• Don't terr/jav/x yourself if it's going to ruin the game for everyone else

How about a few more:

• If you're up 8v7 with no one available to sub, offer to spec someone. We do it in TWD, we can do it in ?go base.
• If the teams are really lop-sided, offer to trade players before the game starts. 10:00-1:00 wins are useless. If your team is crushing the other team, don't keep putting in the best players as soon as they enter, let the other freq catch up
• If you're winning 9:30-1:00, leaving the FR to give away the flag and going roof for fun is dumb. End the game and start a new one.
• If you are busy (eating dinner in front of the computer or something) and know how to cap, be a cap and spec. It's kind of fun to put together a team even if you don't play and it helps your team not have to stop to make changes/subs while they're playing.

I think it's cool[*] that schope is willing to sit if he's been playing a while to let others play. Better games will make ?go base more fun and last longer.

PS. Also to make games more even, I think Matchbot should give alternate 1st pick for each round (like a how a draft goes) so that Freq 1 doesn't get 1st pick all the time. Instead of Freq 1 pick, Freq 2 pick, Freq 1 pick, Freq 2 pick...it should be Freq 1, Freq 2, Freq 2, Freq 1, Freq 1, Freq 2, Freq 2... It's a small thing but it matters sometimes- freq 1 can get the best terr and best shark while freq 2 gets 2nd best terr and 2nd and 4th best shark (spids, etc)

I think u should have a .?go base with a usage limit for the "vets" and guys who want a real competative game, and a .?go base2 for the rest.

i think they should advertise ?go base on all zone, the same way they do with belim, so pub ppl would come and it wouldnt die on night games.

I remember first time i played belim, i was bored and i saw the advert, went there and it was fun.

Well i agree that it was an annoyance in baseelim and stuff too but it seems to work overall. I mean 36 hrs isnt alot, i dont know what you would want to set it on for .?go base. But what im observing is:

1) We want more "newbies" to get into the basing game
2) The ppl who arent "newbies" still want to keep .?go base competative game and not let newer players play.
3) There is no where but pub for the "newbies"

See where im goin with this? Its a neverending circle. The good/old players want a good competative game resulting in no one unknown being picked. Usualy the best 16 are picked.

In conclusion, if u add a .?go base, or a priv arena with a bot for the guys who want competative basing (with a usage limit) so only the "vets" can play that'll make them hapy. Then you can make a .?go base2 with no usage limit meaning the guys who rarely get picked can play. Even if the game isnt near as good they'll still get to play and experience the basing game.

You could put that + if the staffer who adverted for it sees they got to many he can start .?go base2 to let everyone play. I know sometimes during th eday im in .?go base and there are like 50 ppl there and not 1 staffer will gostart up .?go base2.

No, that's part of the problem. Too many people have bot powers and too many people give caps to the first two people who ask for it. This is ?go base, not ?go trivia.
