I like the idea doc flabby but maybe divide it by 2 to get a number we are more familiar with. Takeing the average.
AVE Rating + /2
1145 1491 2636 1318
1155 1435 2590 1295
1147 1394 2541 1271
1089 1355 2444 1222
1116 1320 2436 1218
Only done with the top 5 because im lazy.
The one problem with this is squads that appear half way through. When they start playing, all the top squads are in 1300 range where as all the other squads that have been there since the start of the reset had to climb to that position so had to play good squads when they had the rating of 1000 which means these squads look like they have just dded newbs.
So, have a 50 game min limit on whos squads are shown on the ladder.
One way to solve all of this.
If a squad wants to take part in twl then they tick a box on twd website. They get put into a league table that has to dd eevery other squad within the league at least twice and no more than twice.
Then there is no moaning on whos newbed farmed to get there rank or had it easier than any other squad. This would require all squads faced all oponnets and could mean twl lasted a year in length as this would be a lengthy process but would make twl trophys a bigger achievment.
You could include it in the bot challenge where the challenger said wether it was one of the 2 duels that counted for the pro league. so basically a twl for all squads that wanted in.
All in all: alot of chaos, not easy implemented, loads of moaning guaranted.Ogron - "Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for 10* attitude [Ardour]"

I kinda don't like the ave r + score thing, the rating system needs tweaking, but that's not it. It could be abused too. Imagine this: A squad plays 50 games vs. the top 3 squads, they might win few of them, but because the system, they won't lose much points from the losses, because they're already so low. Then they start playing vs. easier squads, they can get their rank raised pretty fast and they'll have great AVE R. Well this is pretty theoretical, I don't think anyone would do that, but something like that could happen unintentionally.
About Ardour's suggestion: There would be lots of problems. Most of the squads wouldn't want to play other squads unless their best lineup was online. So this would be a problem for euro squad vs. american squad. And even though they want to play only with their best lineup, there would be a massive amount of games that needed to be played. (of course most squads would want to try)

I think a key component of any change has to answer "no" to the following question:
Does this change to TWD maintain or improve a squad's likelyhood to play games throughout the TWD season and make the majority of it more fun than stressful?
TWD is a wonderful, automated system with alot of neat stats. Personally, I like playing as much as possible. I find constantly monitoring my squad's AVE. RATING or whatever kinda stressful, and maintaining a high RATING come TWL qualifications makes that period rather tense, and find squads (and squadmates) mostly uneager to play (or, as in Rapids case, too eager to play).
AVE. RATINGS SYSTEM
1. As Ardour pointed out, accounting for new squads entering the league late poses a serious problem to this system.
2. Monitoring your A.R. is annoying
32 TEAM QUALIFICATION
1. This would seriously reduce the whole craze near TWL time because there is no 16 team crunch. With TW's population there aren't 32 skilled, competitive squads in any league, so any decent squad can qualify. At the same time, higher rank means better grouping, so you're rewarded for doing well.
2. A bad lineup or being unable to attend or other unfortunate circumstances could leave a top-tier squad out of TWL. It would suck if you finished #1 through hard work, the 3 games you had to play were missing some of your best players due to exams or something and the #32 team happens to be a regularly inactive Ancients who usually are ready once TWL is about to start and take your spot
Obviously there is no easy answer, and each system has its advantages and disadvantages. I know Heavy purposely avoided playing the weeks preceding TWL qualifications. Hell, I was a proponent of NOT playing. I knew we had a squad that could compete come TWL, and we had ample time between TWL selection and our first game to play the SK8's, -F-'s and Venom's to prepare. Consequently, it was boring and annoying to be part of this process and I think a new system should be put in place. Especially since my squad (Heavy) doesn't auto-qualify for next season due to fucking +/-. Pretty gay.

Rascal, yeah I know Heavy has a small roster and usually play on weekends and this would make them inactive too.
Sorry, I had to use Heavy as an example, they aren't the only ones who have done this in the past. Plus within the last year has more than proven they are a competitive squad and definately TWL material.
But why you have to list Soulcamp's match list is beyond me. Our AVR R is fairly high, close to 1100.
Anyhow, onto the other stuff...
Simply adding AVE R + rating pts is not good, I agree.
Others in this thread already explained why it's not good.
Ardour made a good point to click on some little checkbox for TWL. And to play all of them atleast 2 times. Instead of all of them, maybe like 50-75% of them, because some euro squads rarely meet american squads due to timezone differences. Yeah, they do for TWL, but during the twd season most of them are lazy to wake up 9am on the weekend to play some euro squad.
And what I deduce from Claushouse's reply, no need to change anything the TWL Qualification system works fine and we don't need added pressures ruining the enjoyment of playing.
But I still think AVE R should be somewhat high if your within top16 rank on the ladder, should be considered. But in most cases, most squads won't have to worry, they will have a decent AVE R.
In the end its upto the TWL ops to decide what they want.
Just made this thread to see what others think and perhaps some TWL ops might find a more precise way to decide who makes the cut from the feedback of the twd community.
