Is there anyone out there who actually plays with the default key settings? If so, I am impressed... and confused. I remember when I first DL'd this game, I took one look at the default key binds and thought to myself, "this is the stupidest key setup I have ever seen or am likely to ever see". Seriously, those exact words went through my mind. Having to use MORE THAN ONE KEY for a move as common as shooting a bomb? To warp you have to hit INSERT??? I think the key setup I am currently using is likely far superior to the default. Could it be better? Probably, so I'll tell you what, I am gonna post it here, and you can see what you would do with it.
Left, right, forward, back: arrow keys (right hand)
Boost: Shift (easily accessable to left pinky)
Bomb: A (ring finger left hand)
Bullet: D (trigger finger left hand)
Mine: S (middle finger left hand)
Thor: T (easily reached by left trigger finger)
Burst: W (easily reached by middle finger left hand)
Multi: Q ( " " " ring " " ")
Antiwarp: Z (ring finger)
Stealth: F (trigger finger left hand, right next to C)
Cloak: C (right next to F)
Xradar: X (duh)
Repel: Space Bar (right where thumb rests anyway)
Warp: Num0 (easily accessed by right pinky finger while steering)
Portal: Num1 (right above warp, makes sense to use same finger for both and
have both located together)
Decoy: 3 (right above W)
Brick: E (again, right around the fire controls)
Attach: Ctrl (same hand as the warp controls, just on the other side of the
movement keys)
The general idea behind this key setup being that you never have to remove your hands from their primary position over the primary controls, except if you are scrolling through the player list (pageup/down still, or f2, f1), or hitting a macro (still default shift+f1-12).
