I'm a little bit late to the party, but here's my take.

nobody's overrated.. the idea of "overrated" doesn't even make sense in this game. captains pick names they know first.. and that's how it goes. guys like nockm are known to be good javs. do I think he's the best in the game? no, but i'll put him in jav over 90% of the other people out there because I'm familiar with what he does, and I know he's not retarded.

it's not about getting rated, it's about being recognized.

I disagree. Whenever people watch a base game, or make predictions, they talk about one player and how awesome they are. "Oh anti-scrub will be dominant in leagues because they have brookus, the best terr since vulch taught us ho... etc etc etc" So clearly, we are being rated. And sometimes, people will talk about how someone really SHITTY is really awesome. "disoblige will own leagues this year because they have mantra-slider".... You get the idea.

and brookus really is awesome. people flip flop so much... they turn on you after one bad game.. or a bad day.. or even a bad week. lots of people have said that brookus isn't that great, or that he's washed up.. but I'm full steam ahead on the brookus train. I'm on team brookus. I'm a big fan.
