  • Any suggestions for TWSD?

    As you probably know TWSD is a dead division, and I myself have played it maybe once or twice since its creation so I can barely remember how it played.

    What can we do to fix/improve TWSD? What are the biggest problems with it, if any? The rules/mechanics/map can be changed if necessary, and any suggestions are appreciated.

    Biggest problem in TWSD is the god damn bricks. They should be removed, period.

    also, the current game type promotes hiding and running rather than working as a team (sure, hiding and running behind the team could be some sort of teamwork - but, at the same time.. no). maybe making it a point race could work (first freq to get 1500 (3s) /2000 (4s) /2500 (5s) points wins) better.

      kill it and focus on a 2v2 wb/jav division or a lancaster division :greedy:

        its just kinda blah...

        like turban said, currently its all about getting the flag and running. we tried it where it was a deathmatch style i think but that sucked too. as soon as one team gets the upper hand its over since its pretty much impossible to dodge and fight back once its 4v2.

        i cant really think of anything that would make it all that good.

        crescent's suggestion is just as good as any others.

            Well spiders are boring, I would say make it a deathmatch style lancaster league.. couldn't be hard to change !setship 3 to !setship 7 in the bot settings.

            Oh and the old pub lancasters, not that new age rush the entire screen and shoot two times automatically lancasters that must have been created after seeing vys play a dd.

              TWSD could be dropped to a sub-division with some minor change to the game play, along with TWD2D and TWD2J.

                not TWSD related at all, but TWD related

                How about a monthly, or bimonthly stats system, where you can see who leads every month? It'll bring up TWD activity and make people try harder in TWD. Yes, maybe people will focus harder on their stats, but they can do that now, so what the hell, screw that argument.
                Something similar to what Chaos Zone did right (one of the FEW things they did right), in doing !pracstats <insert playername>, and !top (kind of self-explanatory). Making a system for stats shouldn't be that hard.

                Dying out first gets a lot of negative points, dying out while having an advantage also gives you a lot of negative points. To contrast, KO'ing someone 4v4, 3v4, etc should get you a lot of points. I mean, the actual stats shouldn't be too complicated. I'd at least try it out on wbduel if you don't see it happening in TWD. I don't know, it's something I've wanted to see for a while, mainly because it brings up competition, and activity.

                Just my 2 cents. I don't see a lot of negatives in this idea, so feel free to comment. PEACE

                  focusing hard on your stats is why you have good records yet your squad always loses long before the semi finals, sames with the rest of the "sweet crew" that you play with. Individual accomplishments don't help in team games, and we don't really need more statistics for attention whoring faggots to try bragging about even though they have never made it to the twld finals nor won every game in a twld season while winning every game 4v5.

                    I already tried posting an idea for stats system, but it was met with weird criticism.

                      Change the battle area to be round instead of square. Most of the win time happens when teams run to the corners and brick the holes.

                        Make it simpler and less run run run

                        Its kinda of complicated with the scoring/flag carrier/bricks etc... Takes forever to make someone understand how it works. It also promotes fleeing from the other team. The guy with the flag just runs and gets bored quick.

                        Just simplify it and make it a 15 or 20 kill death limit. 10 would happen way too quick in my opinion.

                        Keep the ability to attach and short range antiwarp, seems like that would force more teaming.

                        Let it be lancs and spiders in same arena. maybe 1 lanc limit and spiders attach to lanc only.

                        These just silly ideas really, only thing that needs to be changed to make it better is a make it a duel/deathmatch style match with 15-20 death cap.

                          i was about to post again on how it sucks to be outnumbered in spiders becasue you dont really have a chance. but, had a different idea.

                          what if we have several short games, but to one death? lets say a 4v4 straight spider duel, but everyone gets one death then they must wait for that particular round to finish. the winning team gets a 'point'.

                          the match would be a race to get to a certain number of 'points' (i dont know how many it would take to get it in the ballpark of a dd/jd timewise)

                          that or you could set a time limit and the team with the most 'points' after its over wins. i like this one a little less i think.

                          to be honest, this idea could be modified to fit into dd or jd too, but isnt necessary. the reason i think it would work better here is just the fact on how difficult it is to constantly be outnumbered in a spider. you cant just dodge a shot or two and then speed away and recharge. you are constantly getting fired on. the team that could take the team members out while others are still spawning will jsut keep pulling ahead. with this idea, after each 'point' you are put back into a level playing field.


                          now, as to how much work this would take i dont know, i cant code. evern if you did put the work into this, will anyone play it? i dont know that either. you asked for an idea.

                            Just make it like how it was before, first freq with 50 kills win. But with this map and not that old one.

                              I played it once when it was an elimination type deal. It was annoying.

                              My suggestion is as follows:
                              1. limit it to 4v4 for TWSD; 5v5 for TWSL
                              2. Use a small map, about the size of the twjd map. ( Maybe a bit smaller so team mates can see at least one other flag on radar?)
                              3. Put 4 flags in 4 corners (or 3 flags -- 2 in top corners, 1 bottom-middle)
                              4. The more flags you have; the more points your team gets per kill.
                              5. Entering base can be done like in ?go javs (i.e. you can fly in or warp in) Needless to say, the warp-in positions wouldn't be next to flags. (example of entry points for 3 flag arena: warp in top-middle; fly in bottom left & bottom right)
                              6. The spawn area should be equal distance from entry points to warp so that warping doesn't end up being the fastest way in.
                              7. If you don't enter base by a certain time period, you're disqualified.
                              8. The team with the most points after 10min (or 15 min) wins the round. Best 2 our of 3.
