Do thrust shots and rock shots actually make the bullet go faster in wb?

Title says it all really. Im just curious because people have different opinions on this. You can shoot a thrust shot when your energy is at 1350 but once you let go of shift your ship stops immediately so are you really shooting a faster shot? Everybody always says to shoot faster shots...but is this actually possible?

maybe very slightly because of momentum, its not like when you're thrusting and let go of shift you IMMEDIATELY go back to normal speed. There's a split second there when it would probably go very minimally faster.

there was an old thread about this, the consensus was rock shots = a no go

if you're thrusting, you're probably rushing a dude and the kill itself happens 'faster'

PS when you stop using thrust it isnt a thrust shot anymore is it

thrust shots obviously are better than lobs (when you're not really moving or when ur moving backwards). but i dont think they bullets are faster than if you were moving forward at full speed without thrust and fire a bullet. thrust shots just seem faster because all of a sudden the guy moves towards you and fires a "fast" bullet rather than a lob.

k so me and flared worked on this in #twld and came to these conclusions:

1) if you are moving in the direction that you wish to shoot and if you thrust in that direction...it is same speed

2) a rock shot = normal shot

3) a thrust shot is faster than stationary shot

first off, there is no such thing as a thrustshot anymore. If you want to see a real thrustshot, go to ?go ufc.
second, I have said it before and I will say it again: change the repel key to something else. somehow the game thinks you are trying to repel even if warbirds can't repel in TW (paulo, stfu.) so by changing the repel key you can shoot more "efficiently" or however should I say it. same goes for javelins and mines, if you change your mine key you wont get that "Too many mines" message and instead you will fire a bomb while boosting forwards.

Now, I haven't done any testing on bulletspeed, but some old farts supposedly did and they concluded rock shots wont make the bullets faster. I believe thrust shots aren't any different. First, there is this whole acceleration of a bullet. and then there is this other thing:
whenever you press boost you literally fuck up the prediction code of the game. you can charge someone at full speed and dodge a bullet simply by letting go of boost and going the other way. but on the other guys screen he will see how you perfectly eat his shot and then that guy will kill you easily. This is why terrible rushers usually can put pressure on people, not because they are good at it, but because the 'boost fuck up' won't tell them exactly where they are on the opponents screen. this is even harder to predict the more laggy you are. I could probably get more kills - and more deaths - if my lag was 50ms instead of 150ms. get over it.

This same 'boost fuck up' holds true when you fire a shot when you move forward at full speed using boost.

anyway, that was probably a little messy to read so I dug up a quote from before which may answer this better:

In an attempt to compensate for lag, the game is scripted to stress the ship's position in relevance to the person's lag. The more the person lags, the more his ship will be graphically propelled further ahead than they are, when they move in a particular direction. That's where rock shots come in. When a person flies towards a rock and shoots right before they hit it, on the opponent's screen they bounce off the rock before they even get to it normally; therefore the shot becomes visually delayed and the distance between the warbird and the the area where the bullet appears increases, which creates a visual illusion of greater speed that the bullet travels at.

yes, his point was to only kill the shift+control relationship for repel. this had nothing to do with shark, but with wb.

edit: to elaborate, doing this allows you to hold down both shift and control at the same time while flying. you can start a rush off this way then when you are ready to fire simply release shift while pressing control still. you will fire immediately or when you have enough energy to do so.
