I'm for keeping the resolution unrestricted as it increases the level of play, everyone seems to think people shall just start lobbing and run when none of that happened years ago when resolutions were not limited. The people who are better are still going to win, it simply limits the amount of luck involved. Lobbers and runners aren't going to magically start winning leagues simply because they have 400+ extra pixels, reaction times and the mental ability of the individual shall remain the same.

If we keep it limited that is fine as well as the result is the same, we all eventually perish and those who are better shall rise triumphantly! They'll just get strayed a bit more.

I don't buy the argument that it will be as it always has been if there is an unrestricted res so we should just allow it. The issue to me is having a common resolution or at least a very close common resolution to have as level playing field as we can. Slight differences are fine and I do realize some monitors require different specs. The old res setup system worked for years and was fair.. why change it now? Also the "go buy a new monitor and computer" argument is not possible for many. Times are tough. The mission imo for twd should be about an even playing field for everyone so we can have truly balanced high level competitive play. I notice most people in favor of removing the res restrictions are the same ones who can use high resolutions themselves and like the edge it gives them in game and then complain when the "real" res limit is imposed on them because they play worse on it. Just make it fair. It's very obvious you get an advantage seeing ships on screen when others only see a radar blip. You also get an edge on rushing as you have more info in line of sight to react to against an opponent. Glad it sounds like it is going back to the way it was.

TWD has invoked the resolution limit of 1440 x 1024 in TWDD1 / TWDD2 -- With NO resolution limit in DD3 DD4 etc.. This decision was based on player feedback, reviewing the past 2 months of in game resolution usage and to help ready players for TWL res limits.

Do I really need to constantly scour this forum to find these pages? Why is it that every time my DEFAULT resolution is allowed a bunch of kids storm on here, type their hearts out to try to stop it. Dude if you wanna play ss on your cellphone res' go ahead. If you wanna play it on your TV go ahead, if you wanna play it in your own fking theater go right ahead, if it makes you better, good for you, if it makes you worse, who cares. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. The best players I know happen to all use the old style resolutions and DO not complain about other people's setups, do you know why? Because they actually like competing, if people with larger screens are playing well? Good. Then you can practice against something that'll make you yourself better.

On a completely different note, the resolution cap in twd, and twl has NEVER, EVER, been properly put to a vote, it's been hidden away on here, which btw less then 1/4 of the population of subspace even use it. If you wanna put a LEGITIMATE vote to the res cap limits, why not advertise it as much as anything else you guys are doing. TWEL has been advertised non stop since it was promoted back in june. And look at all the participation that's followed from that. If you wanna Change res cap or even think about it, ADVERT this page to the whole zone and stop hiding your actions on here.

I agree. Also, larger resolutions are freaking HARD as heck to play on. The ships are tiny as hell on the resolutions, and one press of your <-- or --> key makes you rotate like.. 2-3 times the amount as smaller resolutions. It's hard to aim. When somebody is good, they are good. It doesn't matter if they play their best on small or large resolutions.

yes, yes it has. most of the good wbs back when we LAST had the vote, voted against it. you could try to get a new vote, but since the twl op has already stated twld is gonna be 1280x1024 it will be considered next season or so.

also, most people are using 1024x768 http://trenchwars.org/index.php?v=pu...ing&x=resgraph dunno how that is when it comes to wb players but majority used 1280x1024 or less in dd.

Why is this an issue every 6 months? When this game was developed it was never intended to have people sitting at 1080p range lobbing. 1280x1024 gives just enough of an on-screen presence that you have to also be mindful of radar as well. This is how the wb game was clearly intended to be played, and if I'm not mistaken the arenas of other divisions/leagues are made along the same principle. Everyone good/experienced shoots this down every time someone gets the bright idea to implement it. On 1080p your screen covers pretty much the entire radar. What the fuck is the point of having it on?

At least if you're going to remove res limits in TWD, do the same for TWL. Why would you practice something you're never going to use when it counts? I think this ultimately is part of the reason things went back to the way they were, but it should go without saying to make changes to both.

TWLD resolution limit will not change this season, as we have already announced the resolution limits that are going to be used this upcoming season. this means that you are going to be forced to use either 1280x1024 (5:4) or 1440x900 (16:10) if you want to compete as 1440x1024 is not a legal resolution. however, the resolution limit might be raised in the future seasons if there is enough player feedback upon which we will have yet another vote to decide whether or not the limit should be increased. i highly doubt the majority of the players want to see that happen, so the odds are against you.

that being said, it wouldn't make much sense (if any) to have TWDD main arena(s) with different resolution limits as it is meant to be the place where you get used to the settings and practice/prepare for the next season. if you want to keep using a resolution greater than 1440x1024 then you may always challenge in TWDD3 or TWDD4.

Fuck you...raising the limits only serves to neuter radar. Why remove something from the game thats been a key part of it for 15+ years? Because a few whiny kids don't want to play the same game as everyone else?
