  • TWD Rules -- Registration procedure adjustment.

TWD Rules #1 and #5 Have been adjusted.
    1. TWD players are restricted to ONE registered name at any time. Siblings can apply for an exception to this rule at the discretion of a TWD Operator. Verification of a sibling relationship will be required each season.

    5. Players who request their names reset will automatically be removed from the TWD database and from the roster of their current squad after the wait time has expired. Players are required to wait 24-hours before they can re-register and apply with another squad. Circumventing this rule by using a different alias or by any other means can result in a TWD ban.

Why the hell do you guys have documentation on rules? Looks so formal, yet 95% of staff do not comprehend the definition of 'cheating'.
    Something about you seems untrustworthy..

*puts down words, gets general idea across without regard to errors, uses common sense as an excuse* <- This is NOT how it's done.
"4. Intentionally or willingly allowing your squad to alter their TWD score in any fashion other than competitive TWD games (feeding) is illegal. If your squad is caught giving points to other squads purposely or willingly, the match(s) will be voided, and both squads will be barred from participating in TWD Matches for a certain amount of days. i never quite understood the point of this rule provided it doesnt violate the 24 hour after joining a squad thing. waiting 24 hours to change your name is... well... stupid.

as long as you abide by the squad joining 24 hour limit, i really dont understand this.

ya this is pretty useless. as long as only one name is registered then there is no need to restrict people from being on multiple rosters. it does no harm.
1:Rasaq> i scrub really hard with toilet paper so little pieces of it get stuck to my anus hair and then later on when im watching tv i like to pull them out slowly because it feels pretty good

1:Mutalisk> heard that n1111ga okyo got some DSLs

Paradise> No names but there's actually a black man in the arena right now.

        Jones> MAAAAN1111GA UCHIHA

Paradise> NO NAMES. NOT A SINGLE NAME.....but 3/6 of the players on Force are of a certain descent. I will not go any further.

There should be a specific rule set that must be abided by for a staff member to determine if a player is eligible for an early reset. A staffer had allowed me to alias (since I never do this and have no intentions of actually abusing the rule) so that I can play on a non-serious name for TWD while I waited to join a TWL squad. My name was reset, I registered the alias, and played for a few days. Then I wanted my old name re-activated and alias reset, but a very rule-abiding, and respectable staffer (fiS) didn't want to bend the rule for me as she sees its important that players are treated equally. I had no record of cheating or abusive squadhopping or doublesquadding, so I figured it should be okay. There should be a simple set of rules that must be followed to determine whether a player is eligible to have their name reset earlier than 24 hours. It would have avoided fiS' and my debacle But she's doing great and I respect her decision, we need more staff that stick to their instincts and follow rules like her!

i still havent heard a single reason why the name rest should take 24 hours. if its only to avoid the 24 hour squadhopping rule, cant that be enforced a different way?

yup, that is the one and only reason why that rule exists. it is, currently, the easiest way to deal with the squad hopping problem (even though not many people do this nowadays due to the limited options) as the site has no way to differentiate players and their aliases at the moment to enforce the 24-hour rule. hopefully that makes some sense.

alright, thats what i figured. then i dont understand why, with a simple check, a mod couldnt reset a name provided this rule isnt violated. if there is one active and the requester is being agreeable and everything i mean... dont see why this needs to be an issue?

if youre being a dick, i wouldnt reset your name.

It used to be that TWD Ops could make the call on whether or not to reset your name, perhaps this is still the case? The only purpose that I'm aware of (and unless something recent in the past few years has come up, I should be aware of it) was to stop squadhopping/doublesquadding. We used to have a problem where players were switching squads during the day to play TWD, which wasn't great for league stability and led to all sorts of complaints. It's simple enough for an OP to quickly assess whether or not this is occurring and decide whether or not to provide an immediate reset.

                    Thanks Pressure I appreciate that.

Weaver, if it was up to a TWD ops decision every time, everyone would get his/her name reset early eventually - and would feel misstreated if he/she wouldn't get reset, while others would get it. It would end up with once a player gets rejected by a TWD op, he would send another call until he gets an OP to reset his/her name. It wouldn't be fair. Players with frends in staff would have an advantage there, as it leaves a grey zone, sad enough. And that wouldn't be fair to these who don't have "friends". Same rule for everyone, simple as that, is the best solution.

You guys need to realize though that it is only a small step to avoid extreme squad/name hopping. I am certain that you can still play on your currently registered name for the 24 hours while the name is resetting, and then, once reset, you can use your new name. You never have a full day without being able to play, just a full day to wait until you can change your name. I don't TWD as often as you guys, so excuse that, but is this really a biggie?

                        Appreciate the response fiS.

It's not a big deal, just an unnecessary frustration. Personally, I feel TW Staff should be doing anything and everything possible to limit frustrations. My concerns go beyond the issue we're discussing here, but something I've chosen not to pursue as I'm content in my old age to simply watch rather than do something about it. My reasons for responding to this thread are entirely selfish - I recently went through changing names to join another squad. After being on Thunder for many months I was still required to wait 24 hours to change my name, I thought it seemed ridiculous and decided to see if I there was a place I could vent on the forums. Mission Accomplished.

When TWD was at its prime, TWD Ops were able to make a decision on resetting names and we had no problems. I don't know what to make of your point about players being mistreated - they are either squadhopping (they have joined and left another squad within a day or two. In my experience this tended to be the same people over and over) or they aren't (most cases). There is no grey area here and a simple matter to explain to any player. Is it really an advantage to know someone on staff? If this is the case, you have an internal problem and you have hired TWD Ops who abuse the system. No offence intended. Whatever the case, we're talking about changing names here, not letting Blood (I really am old...) log in on your name for a DD.

but otherwise i agree. the first couple months after twl is nothing but a struggle to have games at any time. swapping around as much as possible might help to squeeze out a couple more games a day.
