TWDT Schedule
Here is the proposed schedule for the upcoming TWDT season. These dates are still tentative and are subject to change.
Draft: Sunday, 7/14/24 @ 2:00 PM ET
Week 1: Sunday, 7/21/24
Week 2: Sunday, 7/28/24
Week 3: Sunday, 8/4/24
Week 4: Sunday, 8/11/24
Week 5: Sunday, 8/18/24
Playoffs: Sunday, 8/25/24
Finals: Sunday, 9/1/24 (Labor Day weekend for USA players, will likely be moved to Sunday, 9/8/24 if players can't commit to this date.)
Games will be played at their standard times, 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM ET for Warbird, 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM ET for Javelin, and 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM ET for Base.
With 6 teams, each team will play each other twice in the regular season. The top 4 teams in each division will advance to the playoffs (semifinals and finals).
We are aiming for at least 20 more signups before the draft, which would put teams at 20 players per roster. This should help ensure that teams are able to field competitive rosters in all three divisions. With the summer season, show rates are bound to be inconsistent so I would like to avoid any no shows if possible.
Next thing to work on will be player ratings. Just from eyeballing the sign up sheet, the quality of talent seems to be there for a competitive league to take place. Once the ratings have been finalized, the star rating cap may see a small increase in all divisions.
Another thing that is being considered is separate base ratings for players that can play multiple ships. With the lack of active terriers and sharks in the player base, this could help with lineup flexibility if implemented.
Lastly, I am leaning towards having NO Free Agency draft. With 6 teams fighting for a top 4 finish, being in a bottom 2 position in the early stages of the season and potentially picking up a 10* player via the Free Agency draft would seem too unbalanced. There is still a little over 2 weeks to signup if any players wish to participate this season. Every day is the last day to sign up, but the official cutoff date and time will be on Draft day at 7/14/24 @ 12:00 PM ET.
The draft format will likely stay the same unless the captains would like to propose and agree to any changes. As of now we have 6 captain volunteers, with violence being the lowest rated amongst them. However, violence is a proven TWDT captain and I see no issues with him being able to draft a competitive team.
