Much of the hype around current draft league is also around the all time highest prize pot for the winners, a staggering 10k.
Meet one of the patrons of the league, legend, who has contributed to many leagues before Dad for this short interview:
Dad> an interview? I'm just a 6* player
Dad> I do appreciate all the time and effort you put into your analysis and write-ups
Lee> you are considered a hero by many tw players, what made you contribute so much to this game financially?
Dad> I'll support you any way I can
Dad> This is the only game I've ever played so I have an strong affinity towards it
Dad> I am hedcase8 from SVS/Chaos. I have been playing since the Fall of 1995 when you all were obnoxious teens
Dad> Ghost Ship and Mom asked if I wanted to use this name in recognition of someone before me.
Lee> svs your favorite zone?
Dad> I enjoy both zones nowadays. I've signed up for SVS league for the first time in years and also signed up here as Dad
Dad> I miss powerball the most
Lee> ur kids also play subspace?
Dad> my son, hedcase1, was the second Pro League Sysop. He followed Danskar back in around 1997/98. I blame him.
Lee> wow, thats incredible
Dad> He and I would call and speak with Alex/Ghost Ship from time to time. That's how IML League began in Chaos
Dad> I was the Appeals Arbiter for a while over there
Lee> ever took a break from game?
Dad> perhaps a few years ago but it wasn't very long
Dad> I traveled globally every week for a few years
Lee> ever been to Estonia?
Dad> been near it. Been to more than 120 countries; some for weeks, some hours
Dad> I accidentally entered the Bosnian/Serbian warzone in a rental car once
Lee> good to have dodging skills then
Lee> okey, but yea anytime u end up in Estonia, let me know, would gladly show around, like i have done with other subspace travellers
Dad> I'll be sure to reach out to you. Nice to be in a position to contribute from behind the scene. I hope many vets return. We may add a prize for one of them.
Lee> and really appreciate your contributions, people like you keep this game alive
