TWDTB FINALS overview
With both captains playing 1 week ahead of schedule to get best possible lineups (big props for this), our first final took place between Power, team many predicted to be nr.1 favorite since draft and pwned.nl, very solid, but pretty underperforming base team in main season, clearly behind terrorist and force in ratings.
But as playoffs showed, pwned rank was not really true to their real capabilities. First of all they managed to get all their key players showing up (unlike some competitors), meaning mikkiz (who had missed some games in main season) in terr, sprackle showed for shark with commodo, allowing bad badger in spider alongside creature and turban, with retroaction and hercules sharing 7.5 spot and low star superstar aiti completing the lineup.
Power of course had all ingredients for win since start of season, with ogron in terr, willby/zidane sharkduo, superstars cripple, renzi and sword in spider combined with underrated spawnisen in 7.5 spot and dad as low star. Power steamrolled through season, all of that team was more or less available for all games with their only loss coming in last weekend of main season, when willby was missing.
So obviously Power was considered big favorite in this tie. Pwned did not care much about that though. They seemed to be mentally much better prepared for game 1 and managed to shook power from the go, with ogron uncharacteristically dying several times in a row, while mikkiz had one of his top-top performances ending up with just 1 death at the end of game. Pwned sharks made some excellent moves, sprack with 2 teks, backed up with 6* aiti dominating under, where dad was struggling without support. Turban/bad badger supported with their laggy pushes. What really described this game was how in flagroom battles, pwned moves often ended up in teks, while they couldnt really hold cram properly at all, hence gamescore being still quite even and most of game was fought in flagroom despite 9vs1 terrier deaths.
Second game though, that spark was gone and power was in full strength. Pwned couldnt do anything really and struggled hard in breaking powers cram. Power spiders really dominated with 100+ more kills in a one-sided event.
Game 3 was a bit more equal battle to extent, mikkiz had some incredible moves again, but in the end power was just too good to be bothered.
So the historical title goes to zidane, most successful cap in base leagues in recent times to a team without any real weakness and highest total vp points since they have been used in draft league. Excellent draft and vision and those key wins they got in wb/jav over course of season bringing them to playoffs brought well deserved win.
