In their first TWLB match just now, they lost to Spastic pretty strongly, but did manage to get 5:22 of flagtime (some say that it's because Spastic weren't paying attention, but whatever).
Anyway, they're not that bad at all. With some more experience, I could see them maybe getting a win against either Sk8 or Melee, but probably not both. (If Sk8 does the same thing they did against A-S, then it'll be a lot easier for Defiancy.)
What Defiancy has going for them is a competent group of spiders that play a clean and efficient game. I was particularly impressed with the performance of Skynyrd, though Escales Dante did better in terms of pure statistics.
There's lots of room for improvement, though. Here are some tips:
I) I didn't feel that Death3D performed very effectively in Warbird. He killed the opposing terr twice, which is highly unexceptional. Perhaps a Javelin would occupy the player slot better.
II) The Sharking on display was, to put it mildly, horrendous. Tyrome and El Deputy both constantly charged into Spastic crams without any other players going along, completely wasting their reps and not protecting any of their teammates. I'm told that the starting Sharks for Defiancy are neither of these players, but instead X Japan and Xog. If this is true, Defiancy need to get these Sharks playing in every single one of their matches, and I dearly hope they're better than what we saw today.
III) I was similarly unimpressed by the terrier, Ray J, who seemed to consider bursting more important than staying alive. Get your priorities straight. He also ruined Defiancy's only successful staying-in-base duration, a cram that lasted one minute, by moving out of position. More careful Terrier work is an absolute must.
Good luck to Defiancy in their future TWLB appearances.
