  • Preds Week 11!

And as we draw this season to a close, lets all get ready for some hoful kickass playoff action.

    TWLD:

British Squad vs. Pirates -- With BS already eliminated from any possibility of TWLD playoff play i expect this match to be even more one sided than normal. Also consider that with a win of around 6, Pirates would shoot from the 4th seed to the 2nd seed. Yarrr

Avalonian vs. British Squad -- A match that has no real value, but can bring up bragging rights for sure. Avalonian does not want to go 0-10 in TWLD action but BS has the ability to only show 4 -- even so I guess i'm going with the squad from Britain.

    NO TWLJ MATCHES

    TWLB

Pallies vs. -FINAL- -- Rematch time. The match of the week without question. Mitch played very well in the first try at this and i expcet more of the same, but this gives Div more time to get ready, which may be what he and the pallies crew need (fuck WoW) I'm going with a -F- victory though.

-FINAL- vs. Mambo -- Another good match. Mambo has already got the #1 seed regardless of the outcome whereas if -F- loses to Pallies they'd need a win here to regain the #1 seeding. It's all so very close in the West division! I'm going with -F-

Anti-Scrub vs. Sk8 -- Another win for the scrubbers but Sk8 will put up a good fight.

BasingCrew vs. whiterabbits - Whiterabbits were leading both times they tried this game and i expect no less, wr should beat BC for the bragging rights.

BasingCrew vs. Sk8 -- BC should win this to pull a 1-1 weekend, good on them this season for playing very well for a brand new squad with unknown talent. I hope to see them back next season. Sk8 has also made good strides in TWLB and i expect them to requalify next season as well.

I wish the regular season didn't end this way (with a Week 11). Although I understand how it happened, it tends to give a slight advantage to the squads that are playing in this "Week 11". The advantage comes in two forms. Firstly, squads can see how the other teams have finished the season and can gauge the importance of the game. This means that they can rally more players to show up if it is a critical game. Secondly, those teams which have two games to play have another advantage since the consolidation of the games increases the chance that players can show up.
Note, I understand that the squads didn't arrange this, it's just the way it happened. Also note, I said 'slight advantage', I am not trying to make this out to be a big deal but it is a 'downside' to doing things this way.

Ephermal, both of your points are based on who the squad gets to show up, when in reality, that isn't an advantage or disadvantage. You can get your top people to show up every week if you're trying to get into the playoffs.

When it comes down to it, every squad will finish with 10 games. And for those 10, they should've got their top 5 (or 8 for basing) to show up if winning was that important to them.

I'm not saying this because my squad plays a game in this makeup weekend, i'm with you in the way that i wish we didn't need this weekend, i really wanted to have this game count back in week 6 but that's not the way it worked out. I just disagree with you about it being an advantage/disadvantage to certain squads.

Well, it seems to me that it be easier to get people to show up if the squad had two critical games on the same day or if the league standings were already known (playoff position hanging in the balance).

But this opinion is based upon my current experience in Disoblige, where there is a mix of Euro and North American players who faced decisions prioritizing summer activities against the league's scheduled games.

Obviously a make-up week isn't the greatest thing to ever happen, but I think it's the best way to deal with problems in the league.
