Welcome to the 2004 TWL Playoffs
Ten (eleven really) weeks later, the boarding passes are all handed out, the qualifying teams head for the elimination/championship rounds- The Playoffs.
The TWLD door closed on Rapid, DragonGuard, AceVoimat, Avalonian, British Squad, Verone, Slash, and Melee.
Rapid, DragonGuard, Tanked, Sexed, Ancients, Spastic, Melee, and whiterabbits have all had their TWLJ season come to an abrupt halt.
Rejected Basers, Melee, Basing Crew, whiterabbits, sk8, and defiancy have been left out of the TWLB playoffs and have a long way until next January.
TWL's oldest and arguably most respected and competitive league, TWLD is chock full of old faces. Favorites in the first round would definitely have to be -final-, syndicate, grapevine, and pallies- which would set up an incredibly talented, cream dream of a final four.
TWLD begins Sunday at 2PM EST.
Disoblige, -final-, Syndicate, and Pallies are represented in all three leagues- but best case scenario, one of these teams would not win any league (sleepy weasel says this is confusing- what i'm saying is that all the super squads can't win a league). Then you have the wildcard squads- the teams with two leagues to focus on- mambo with TWLB and TWLJ, Grapevine, sk8, and Pirates with the two dueling leagues. Then there are the specialized teams- only one area of focus, only one crown to win- Ancients have nothing to set their sites on except the coveted TWLD crown, with a first round date with clear league favorite, -final-. Incuria, new comers and "overachievers" in the basing world, got a favorable draw against Anti-Scrub in the last 1st round basing game on Sunday and have a real chance at advancing to the second round, which despite the outcome of any of the other first round games, will be an array of basing all stars. Spastic, last years surprise champions, have a date with the eastern conference champions Mambo in their narrowly focused run at the TWLB repeat.
Saturday
2:30 PM EST
sk8 vs. grapevine TWLJ
spastic vs. mambo TWLB (mmm dandy!)
Sunday
1:00 PM EST- 5:30 PM EST
the rest.
So they're here. Cancel plans for the next three Sundays and let's all have a fucking good, hard go at this and then we can all go outside and play for a couple months.
See you on the grid.
