Twl Finals - Predictions

I'm just praying that I'll be able to make the game. I leave for Vancouver, my home town, on Saturday morning. Even if I do make the game, I wont be on my computer and things just don't feel right when you aren't on your own machine. If a GV victory hinges on anybody, it'll be Tys and Mega Newbie. MN has been a machine so far this season and I don't see him slowing down anytime soon =)

IMO, he's been the only one slowing down for gv, well at least in the playoffs. but who knows, hemight step up come finals.

Gravevine
Mega Newbie has been lacklustre in the playoffs so far. Was his season only good because it was the regular season and no one cared or is he actually good? As for Metalkid, he's been hyped in previous seasons, and he's a huge question mark. If anyone remembers back in the season 5 finals, his massive choke in round 2 sealed Onix's fate in a close game vs. Siege. How about Weaver? Last season vs. Elusive Weaver did not shine through, but was instead very lacklustre. Will he be able to lead this team this year? Count on Weaver to be the key player of the game for Gravevine (my prediction).

This TWLD season has been full of surprises. The biggest one being Shriek getting kicked out. I bet that totally changed the outcome of the finals as soon as it happened. It is nice, for a change, to see 2 squads in the finals that are 8-2, aka not 10-0. To me, that shows that TWL is finally starting to become more competitive, since in most other seasons, you could always predict which squad was going to win it out of 2, at most 3, squads.

First of all, Syndicate should feel proud of themselves. Even if they don't win, they beat -FINAL- in 2 rounds. That is quite the feat since they never lost a game before that (in wbs), and I had marked them up as winning it all.

I'm glad that GV got as far as it did, so I have no regrets if we lose.

Let's see. Mega Newbie... One factor, that I believe anyway, why he didn't do so well in the playoffs is because others stepped up in his place... Along with the fact that he brings his A game when he lags hardcore... But all of our matches in playoffs have had 40 or less people in them (since more "upper level" matches were played at the same time as ours), which probably reduced his lag significantly. Though, that won't be the case in the finals, now will it.

As for me, yes, I'm sure you can go back to the Onix game, where over half my hits were eats... But that was my first TWL, first final, and even back then, my skill limited, especially for 5 on 5. Hell, I didn't start changing the way I play 5 on 5s until I got onto GV during TWL. I stepped it up in the playoffs, big time. Hell, this has been, by far, the best TWL season I've ever have. The finals won't be any different. I may have been a question mark in the past, but no longer. Since I've been in almost every situation there is now, pressure won't really be a factor to me in this match. Although regular season and playoffs are two totally different things, GV did beat Syndicate quite well, and I'm sure we can do it again.

Weaver, who has now said he probably won't play, wasn't playing that well during the regular season. He stepped it up a lot in the playoffs, which was quite interesting to see. You can compare people to games they played in years ago, but I'm sure they won't be at the same skill level from that long ago.

Tys is quite an interesting guy. He only played 3 regular season games for GV, which is a bit sad. He has been practicing all season to improve his game. If the pressure doesn't get to him, he'll be a guy to keep your eye on.

Finally, Randedl. I don't know why so many people hate him. If I did know, I forgot. Hehe. When looking at his performance, it looks to be only average to me. Though, his best game so far was vs Syndicate, so hopefully he'll repeat it.

I would talk about others that I think will play, but no need to give out information to think about!

Luckily, demonfaze is one of those guys that I know is good, but he hasn't gotten into my head that he is (since I never play vs him). I would expect him to do well, unless all of GV hides from him until the end or ends up gang banging him in the match like we did last time. LOL

Expect Escalate to choke this time around. This is his first TWL final, and it is on a whole different level than anything encountered before. The atmosphere is different when you got 150 - 200+ people watching in spec. The pressure can be quite immense. If he goes 1:1, it'll be a win for him.

Fireballz has only been above average this season. It seems to me that he has lost a lot of his prior skill, probably due to inactivity on his part. He could go either way in this match, so it is hard to predict how he'll do. The pressure probably won't be a factor with him, so he could potentially be dangerous.

exe is pretty good in my mind. He used to be better, though, and I think he is in the same boat as fireballz. Though, exe only played half of the regular season games, which makes him not as in sync with the team as others. But I expect him to put a good rec up in at least 1 round of the finals. So GV has to watch him. Like fireballz, the pressure won't get to him.

I doubt they would put 2dragons in now. I've heard that his lag was supposedly fixed, but if it isn't, that would only hurt Syndicate since they would be down 1 man throughout the round. Plus, he proabably isn't in sync with the other players at this point in the season, so it would be unwise to play him... Maybe as a sub, though.

Epi hasn't really played many games this season at all. If they play him in finals, he will probably be one of the weaker links. His games vs Final shows that he was doing well and then choked, so I'm not really sure how well he will do in finals. Though, like fireballz, I doubt that the pressure would get to him, so GV can't rely on that.

I expect Deez Nuts to play in some form. Versus average squads, he does quite well. But vs good squads, he seems to do not so well. I've never really watched him play, so I can't really predict how well he will do in the finals. All I know is that he didn't do so well vs us last time, which could be a factor.

grapevine starters: tys, mega newbie, metalkid, randedl, weaver
results: syndicate wins in 2 rounds. i think now that playoffs have arrived, so has syndicates "a-game", i can't see them losing even 1 round now. grapevine has had a good season and a good lineup but i think that a lot of people overlook that exe and fireballz have played great this season because they only see how well demonfaze and escalate has done. i doubt any of those 4 guys will get 10 deaths in any of the rounds.
