I did not read this whole thread so I'm sorry if I'm saying what everybody else already said. I'm not saying this topic has not been discussed yet in another thread either.
This TWD system we're using at the moment sucks; 'cheating' is too easy. "Easy" squads get into TWL by winning games against "easier" squads and not accepting challenges from "harder" squads.
Everybody knows something should be done to the system. At the moment who ever wants to get in to TWL, gets in.
Mulk u have to give the system time. If it doesnt reset again (which it shouldnt) then the ladder will straiten out and the better squads will get to the top. Rite now a squad with 30 active members can play like 10 DD's a day and get to #1 in a matter of a day or 2. After the scores settle down they wont be able to do that. You will eventualy have to play a top squad (top 5-10) to get points. We got all the way till january for TWL teams, so its tons of time. Rite now the ladder doesnt even matter.
In the TWL rules they should just state that the teams/seeding will be picked from TWD, but it is up to the discretion of the TWL ops if they decided to allow/disallow a certain squad into TWL. Usually everyone that should be in TWL gets into TWL, but there is always one or two cases. As a completely hypothetical example (I know this situation is impossible), say Menasor played 15 newbie TWBD games the day before TWD ends, and they take away Pallies spot from TWLB because of this. Obviously, the best thing for the league would be for a TWL op to disallow Menasor from TWLB and give Pallies the spot, even though the TWBD ladder would indicate the opposite.

I agree stab. there should be some kind of override/Veto thing for the ops, but where does the line stop them? I mean who says who is good enough, Me...u? I mean alot of the time its fairly ez to see it, but sometimes it gets fuzzy. I mean last season Grapevine wo uld of been a better fit for LB then say melee...or sk8 even. But melee was atleast known. Could u remove them and give it to grapevine? I mean its a good thought, but it would always get groggy and you would have the "ur playing favorite" thing goin around. If you would do this you would need a group of ppl to decide, not just the 2-3 TWL ops. I say since TWD is a longer period this time we see how it goes. If it doesnt work this time around then u definatly gotta do something about it.
stab: theres no need to make it subjective. there should be a set rule that addresses the problem.
there are several ways it could be easily taken care of. one, which ive already suggested, would be to require a certain percentage of a twl qualifying team's games to have been played against other squads that finished in the top 16. playing a large percentage of your games against a squad that is hanging around #16 then would be pretty risky, because you are banking your qualification on them not dropping in the standings by the final day. same goes with playing the same squad a ton of times, youd be putting all your eggs in one basket and hoping they dont fall or dissolve. even requiring say 1/3 of a teams games to be against a top 16 finisher would probably have excluded every team that was accused by the community of ladder abuse last season. the teams that were serious about making twl and wanted to be sure they made the requirement would have to play atleast one decent game for every trash game they played.
another would be to add a round of qualification to the beginning of the season in which the borderline squads that made the top 16 had to play against squads that just missed it, perhaps in place of one of the three pre-season games.
There exists a fine line between hard partying and destitution.

I said this same exact thing b4 last season and ppl said it was stupid. I think its a great idea. This way the better team will move on. You would only have to do it for the last 1-2 spots to qualify. I mean i hate to keep using this example, but melee/tanked/grapevine in LB last season. I think we all know GV and probably tanked would of fit the possition better. We could of had that or saw who really deserved it if we had a small tourny type thing.

Small tourney also allows for teams to get used to set/reffed/TWL-styled games.
