That is NOT proof that skill level isn't declining. This is proof that the talent is either well-spread or the margin of talent is closer between squads than in the past. This does not however mean that the skill level itself is 'higher'.

Yeah, but it's still quite an overstatement to say that the skill level is dropping and that "this is the beginning of a slow and steady decline..."
I mean, there's still plenty of talent out there, and even the players of old could add to it if they didn't have such massive egos. There's alot of talent out there, the only difference between now and when tw first started is that nobody wants to admit it. I mean, when tw first started, and all these "vets" made names for themselves, who could argue it. I mean, they were on top of everything, and there were no past players to argue there skill level. So after they got there credit and props, they figured they were the only ones who could dish out compliments after that, and now it makes it so much harder for everyone to make a name for themselves. I truly believe that if the top duelers and basers of today started the same time as the players of old, when tw first started up, they would be ranked as top vets today.

Well its only natural for a player to get good with more playing time. Even a complete newbie can go to baseelim/elim for a few months and play it alot like a few hrs a day and eventualy get pretty good in the ship. Sure not all will be like banzi and blood, but there are ppl out there who can do good. Like hellz said, some of us are just to thickheaded to realize it.

Funny how this discussion comes up every year.... in squad chats and in the forums...

I think people are just upset to see people they've known for years disappear and unfortunately the oldies don't know all the new talent because the "vets" only talk amongst themselves because they're too l33t to help the upcoming talent
Anyway it's more fun to watch when there's a close race between several squads instead of just one or two elite squads battling it out for top spot.

haha gall!!!!! and yes it does come up every year but usualy there isnt this many vets that go inactive at the same time. They usualy still come and play a few times a week. Alot of it is bc pallies have been MIA since last TWL. I think that overall some of the vets will be back for TWL, they always are. Plus i think that there is alot of squads who scout for new talent. Like pred said sk8 does, im sure alot of other squads who been around awhile do too.

Back on topic, inactivity always is the number one killer for squads who have been quite established in the TW community. I think the main reason why players will take extended leave in a squad that is really stable, is because they know by the time they return, the squad will still be there and nothing much has really changed, unlike newer squads, who must keep up the activity or else the squad leader will quickly lose interest and dissolve straight off.

I don't think the skill level in TW is declining at all, there are more people playing this zone than ever, and more people are getting good at it.
However, I will admit that there are less "Elite" squads than before, but I think we can blame this on the "off season time", when the time comes for TWL you'll see more solid teams, and more "good" players will try to get a squad for the upcoming season.

I expect a very competetive TWL in all 3 divisions, I'm looking forward to it. :up:
