Well bleen i think it is clear that thier are many people in TW who want to help TWL and the zone in general. Only a few get that chance tho. Not everyone can program a bot or a website but people are still willing to help with the little things if staff would let them.

I don't mind the website outlook (heck, it's great as long as we have one!). If you don't like the way it looks - come up with something better! I'm sure many people would agree that the time would be better spent on fixing the issues with bots and the statistics server. Btw, despite all the bitching, great season. all the important stuff ran approximately as intented which is quite an achievement considering all the staff changes and the staff generally being shorthanded. Thank you staff for making TWL season 8 possible.Veni Vidi Visa - I came, I saw, I did some shopping.
Also did some game development. Check out this horror adventure game if you like point'n'clicks.

No offense, Cig. But "We" gave TWL staff time to fix the bots? Since when do they work for us, this is nice of them to take time out of their day to even accomodate us by organizing leagues and making the bots. I mean, if you want to start it much earlier, why don't you learn how to fix these bots and work on it? You see my point?Originally posted by Cig SmokeYou really cant even use that arguement because for the past 2 seasons we gave you guys (TWL staff) plenty of time to create/modify the bots, and even when it took u guys 2 months longer then expected the bots still had problems. I'd much rather start the season early and have them problems instead of waiting till october then realizing we have those problems.
You figure 2 weeks of pre-season (1/2 way through october), then 10 weeks of season (2 1/2 months) wich would bring us till the end of December aka christmas, then you'll have to delay 2 weeks in a row for christmas and then new years.
Now thats if EVERYthing is running correctly and it starts right on the beginning of october. Now i dont expect that, and we'll probably have 3 weeks of pre-sesaon or something, but either way it sucks to have a 1-2 week delay mid-season/b4 playoffs bc of the holidays....BOTH christmas and NEW years day are on sunday btw.
Start it MID september, or even the beginning of september so we can finish b4 holidays.

death row, seriously, do you expect cig smoke (or anyone), to learn how to code bots and then fix the problem? no.
yes staff is doing this for free, but that doesn't mean that people should just put their time into the game then just accept it with its flaws instead of giving suggestions/complaints with whats wrong with it. if no one ever pointed out the errors in the system, nothing would ever improve. cig smoke did stumble onto a valid point about how, with or without its flaws, it will overlap christmas and new years if started in october. might as well start it at a more appropriate time....

no one is stopping you from giving out nice and GOOD suggestions. But if you look at this forum, most of posts are just endless whinings.
Cig, 2 pre-season + 10 regular season = 12 weeks = 3 months. Given 1 replay week and maybe 1 extra pre-season to fix bots. that will be 14 weeks. If we start at mid september, then playoff will be around christmas. yeesh, maybe you should learn to count first before babbling about this.1 + 1 = 1

Exactly.Originally posted by Nethilano one is stopping you from giving out nice and GOOD suggestions. But if you look at this forum, most of posts are just endless whinings.
There is a big difference between whining (criticism) and a constructive 'spirit of discontent'. People who report to me and are whiners, get fired. But I give raises and profit sharing to people who say, 'there has got to be a better way to do this, perhaps we ought to try this...'.
Any lazy dumbass moron can be critical, being constructive takes thought and effort.

Hmmmm, doing a job that earns me some money, since im broke and i need it for my daily survival..... vs lets give my time again to program for this community for free (I guess you aren't going to pay my bills).... Hmmm, tough choice guys, tough choice... I'm sure you can figure out the maths.
P.S. No offense, some people do need to learn to read. death row didn't mean it that way, awesome. It's AWESOME how some people make presumptions on everything a person can say. Makes me even more happier to start working again for the uber super secret TW project.....Last edited by BLeeN; 06-09-2005, 03:10 PM.Light is faster than sound. Go ahead and make suggestions then. Thats really irrelevant to my point. My point is: Cig made a comment that "We(?)" gave TWL staff enough time to fix these bots. Since when do they work for us? Last I checked they are doing us a favor by taking personal time out of their schedule to help run things. So if there are bot problems, ask yourself this: CAN YOU DO IT BETTER? Now whenever they feel like getting serious and working on the bots again, is on them. Just because certain people want games done on a certain date, doesn't mean they have to do it. Because its their time, not ours. Season just ended, I don't see the reason to just rush into anything. I, for one, will enjoy the off-season. Maybe they want to enjoy the rest of their summer, too? When they feel the desire to start working on them again, they will. Again, they do this out of their own kindness. They aren't getting paid to meet any "deadlines." So unless some of you want to start learning and putting this together, don't rush them.Originally posted by Awesomedeath row, seriously, do you expect cig smoke (or anyone), to learn how to code bots and then fix the problem? no.

Can we just turn this thread into a "who is the best base-lanc in twl?" thread already?
It's not like the ops will start the season with only a few days notice. We'll all have weeks of advanced notice to discuss everything. That's a good time to make suggestions (such as those about rules, the final game times, etc).

While the bots work fine now, remember that we'll need to completely recode them again from scratch as is the tradition for the past 3 seasons.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:

Yeah, do the bot programmers fear that somebody cracks the bot, and is able to cheat like that? Seriously though, I have no objections to having these bots season 9.Originally posted by EpinephrineWhile the bots work fine now, remember that we'll need to completely recode them again from scratch as is the tradition for the past 3 seasons.Last edited by Miku19; 06-10-2005, 02:51 AM.6:megaman89> im 3 league veteran back off

Ok i misworded what i meant to say. What i meant is the past 2 seasons 3? They recoded, remade, redone the bots. It always takes them longer then they expect to get them done and then they always have problems. WHY not keep the current bots we have (since they seemed to work well at th end of the year) and go from there.
Neth: all i was saying is that if we start it in october (which PL said, not september) then it will be cutting it close to the holiday time.
Drow: Like i said ^ i misworded my post. But i will also enjoy the off-season and i think we need a good offseason. I was just pointing out that Starting in the beginning of october we will be running into problems with the holidays. I for one wouldnt want a 2 week break midseason right b4 the playoffs bc of the holidays._o_2NASRALLAH
